French Quarter Retreats has plenty of additional options available and is waiting to serve you.
How many participants will be there and who is welcome to attend?
We are expecting a diverse group of 16 to 24 adults spanning the spectrum of gender and sexual orientations, relationship configurations, and levels of Unicorn experience.
What we will all have in common is that we identify as Unicorns and love helping couples and individuals navigate and explore their desires and group sexual dynamics successfully. And the organizers hope YOU add your unique magic to the mix by joining us in New Orleans!
I am in a relationship with another Unicorn. Can we both attend the retreat?
Maybe. But we need to talk.
This retreat has been designed as a Unicorn-Only retreat. It is NOT a couples retreat.
And while it’s possible to have two lucky Unicorns find one another and become a couple of Unicorns, it might be more powerful for the both of you (and the retreat) if one of you attends this retreat and the other attends the next time.
If this situation applies to you or if you’re unsure if it does, and the both of you would like to attend this retreat at the same time, we recommend that you both register to save your seats, and then email
Reid at
Reid@ReidAboutSex.com and request a call. We are more than happy to jump on a call, meet you both, and see what makes the most sense.
Sorry but not sorry to be so guarded and cautious about our sacred Unicorn time together isn’t usurped by Unicorn hunters disguised as Unicorns or unnecessary couple’s drama.
If you are partnered to a Unicorn and know that you’re not a Unicorn in the way they truly are, then we appreciate you sending them to us and you staying behind. We promise to treat them like the magical creature they are and send them back to you with their Unicorn tanks filled up!
I will not be 21 years old by the time the retreat starts. Can I still attend?
Due to the adult nature and content of this retreat, all attendees must be 21 or over at the start of the retreat.
What does my retreat tuition include?

What is the cost of this retreat?

Is dinner included?
Dinner on arrival night is included. On other nights, since New Orleans is filled with hundreds of delicious, world class restaurants, participants are free to head out into the city on whatever culinary adventure strikes their fancy, or take advantage of the venue’s kitchen to cook their own meal or order in. Do what works best for your budget and cravings, and remember to do your dishes! We will have some refrigerator space reserved for participants should they need it.
What dietary restrictions can be accommodated?
Everyone is invited to submit any specific dietary restrictions during registration. French Quarter Retreats will do their best to coordinate with our caterer to meet your needs as best we can. If you have dietary needs we cannot meet, we will work with you to make sure you have some refrigeration space set aside so you can keep what you need nearby and fresh.
Are their payment plans and scholarships available?
Because this is our first time running this retreat with French Quarter Retreats, we will not be offering scholarships at this time. French Quarter Retreats does have a payment plan option available that you can choose when registering.
How will emotional and physical safety be prioritized and what support is available for attendees during emotionally heavy moments?
Since this is a retreat for Unicorns by Unicorns who know what it’s like to grown up in and navigate a mostly sex-negative world filled with folks who aren’t Unicorns, we have put in place several considerations to help stack the deck in favor of the attendees’ emotional and physical safety…
- The Intake Form: After registering, every attendee will have to fill out a brief intake form that the organizers will review to ensure that this retreat is a good fit for everyone who is coming and that the adult nature and explicit content we will be diving into during the retreat is not going to be “too much too soon”.
- The Opening Circle: Mandatory attendance at the Opening Circle on Arrival Day required to attend the retreat. The Opening Circle is where we will create a safer, braver retreat space for our community journey together. It is where the organizers will go over the agreements and community guidelines for the retreat, emphasizing how we will navigate consent and privacy, as well as how we will support one another in building trust as well as repairing trust and being accountable to one another should something transpire that touches upon past traumas or could have been done better. The Opening Circle will also include ice breaking exercises and games to give the group an opportunity to practice and anchor these skills and concepts.
- The Support Team: Through the entire retreat, the organizers and support team with be available for support, space holding, answering questions, and following up with attendees and what they need. Whether it’s cheering someone on about a breakthrough they just had, giving compassionate witnessing as feelings bubble up, or helping an attendee process how they’d like to deal with a consent accident, a learning curve mistake, or a downright violation, the organizers and support team will be available to help.
What can attendees expect to experience during the retreat?
Read the event copy for this retreat again if you’re still unclear. Maybe it sounds too good to be true and that’s why you’re asking? We understand. As far as we know, there has never been a 5-day/4-night gathering designed specifically for a group of 16 to 24 Unicorns! You know what this means? Expect to experience magic during this retreat!
How structured or flexible is the schedule?
Like all of Reid Mihalko’s events, we trust you to take care of yourself and opt in or out as you need. The only thing that’s mandatory at this retreat is to attend the Opening Circle and follow the retreat rules and agreements. Attend what feels good to you, opt out of what doesn’t, and you are encouraged to change your mind.
What should attendees bring with them?
Bring whatever you need to make the most of 5-days and 4-nights in New Orleans surrounded by a herd of Unicorns just like YOU!
After you register, you will receive more specific “welcome to the retreat” information on recommended things to pack, what field trips we have planned, dress up theme nights we have planned, what safer sex supplies and toys to consider packing, etc.
Basically, if you’ve read this far into the FAQ, it’s probably time to register so we can send you the welcome packet! 😉
What’s the process for registering?
Are there cancellation policies or refund deadlines?
Yes. Our venue & booking host, the amazing folks at French Quarter Retreats, are in charge of registrations as well as the cancellation and refund policies, and those can be found clearly listed on their Terms and Conditions page HERE –
https://www.FrenchQuarterRetreats.com/tac
Will there be opportunities to connect with other attendees before the retreat?
Once you’ve register and filled out your intake form, the organizers will invite you to join a WhatsApp group created specifically for this retreat. No pressure to join, but we encourage it. Why? Because you’ll be able to start connecting with your follow, like-minded Unicorns before the retreat!
How accessible is the retreat venue (e.g., mobility accommodations)?
The venue is a historic building in New Orleans’ French Quarter where the retreat space and bedrooms all exist on the 2nd floor accessible only by stairs. (FYI, there is an elevator in the building but it’s beyond repair according to the land lord).
There are approximately 42 stairs up to the second floor.
If you have specific asks or inquiries regrind accessibility, please email
Reid@ReidAboutSex.com with them so we can brainstorm!
What makes this retreat unique compared to other similar events?
As far as we know, there are no similar events that compare to the Join the Unicorps Retreat. We love our Lifestyle friends who prize Unicorns, but that’s not the same thing that we are co-creating with YOU and your Unicorn siblings.
